Mediation

Mediation is a process used to help people reach agreements. In this process, a neutral, trained mediator works with people to discuss all of the issues related to their family conflict, to explore possible options for settlement, and to identify solutions that best meet the needs of each person involved.

Why Choose Mediation? The goal of mediation is to arrive at a solution that best meets the needs of all participants. Mediation offers peaceful, personal, and private solutions that most often save time, money, and stress.

  • Mediation offers a confidential process.
  • The mediation process consists of a mutual goal by both people.
  • Mediation takes place with the aid of a mediator who is a neutral third party.
  • If you are in a conflict with someone you may choose mediation as often it is a less expensive route to follow than fighting it out in the courts.
  • Resolve your differences through communication in a calm productive manner with the guidance of a mediator.
  • A mediator can help you draw up a memorandum of understanding outlining your agreement.

Are you in the middle of an argument with a family member, neighbour or co-worker and it feels like there is no solution?

Is your family in transition and having trouble finding a solution?
Siblings, John and Susan, both live in their deceased mother’s house which they inherited upon her death.  The house is in the suburbs but John would prefer to live in the city.  He wants to sell the house and split the proceeds so he can buy a place in town.  Susan was living with her mother and looked after her for the 5 years before her death.   Susan hasn’t worked since she moved in because looking after her mother was a fulltime job.  Susan doesn’t want to sell the house and would like to stay where she is. What are possible solutions that may work for both people? Before the emotions run high contact a mediator at Whole Life Counselling to help you navigate a peaceful solution.
